You complete the pre registration phase of the Ontario real estate salesperson program, which is five courses, six invigilated exams and two simulation sessions taken strictly in order. Once that is done you apply to register with RECO and find a brokerage to employ you.

There is a second stage after that, the post registration phase, which you complete within two years of registering while you are already working.

The province allows a maximum of 24 months to finish the pre registration phase, counted from the day you start Course 1. Plenty of people use nearly all of it.

A focused student who does not stall between courses can realistically be registered in four to six months. The difference is almost never ability. It is whether you keep moving while waiting for results, and whether you book exams and simulation sessions early enough to get the dates you want.

You need to be at least 18, legally entitled to work in Canada, and able to work in English or French. Beyond that, the requirement is completing the program and registering with RECO through a brokerage that employs you.

There is no degree requirement and no prior experience needed.

Yes. The program assumes no background in property, law or finance and starts from first principles.

Most of the students we tutor are changing careers rather than continuing one. What matters far more than experience is whether you can protect a few hours a week for the material.

Five, taken in this order:

You get a maximum of 21 weeks of access to each of the first four courses, and four weeks for Course 5. Those windows run whether you are studying or not.

This is the part that catches people out. The 24 month overall limit feels generous, so the individual access windows are the deadline that actually bites first.

The courses themselves are delivered online and largely at your own pace, which is why the program works for people holding down a job.

Two parts are not online. The simulation sessions require mandatory attendance, and the exams are invigilated. Our tutoring runs online across Ontario or in person in Toronto, whichever suits you.

You have to register and pay for that course again, and the clock on the overall 24 months keeps running regardless.

Six invigilated exams in the pre registration phase. One after each of Courses 1 to 4, and one after each of the two simulation sessions.

They have to be passed in sequence. You cannot move to the next course until the previous exam is behind you, which is why a single failure has a knock on effect on everything after it.

The Course 1 exam runs two hours. The exams for Courses 2, 3 and 4 run three hours each, as do both simulation exams.

Three hours sounds like plenty until you sit one. Pacing is a real skill and it is a large part of what we drill in the week before a sitting.

They are theory exams built on the course material, and they test application rather than recall. A typical question puts you in a situation and asks what you are obliged to do, which means memorising definitions will not carry you.

Our practice questions are written in the same shape, and every answer comes with the reasoning rather than just a letter.

You are allowed to rewrite, but it costs a fee and, more importantly, weeks against a clock that does not pause.

This is the single most common reason students come to us, and it is usually the easiest thing to fix. Most failures trace back to exam technique rather than missing knowledge: misreading what a question is really asking, or losing time on the long ones.

You register for an exam through the education provider, then schedule and pay for the sitting itself through their examination partner. They are proctored, either online from home or in person at a test centre.

Book early. Seats at popular times go, and waiting for a slot is dead time you cannot get back.

A multi day session where you practise the actual work of a transaction with an experienced agent coaching you, rather than reading about it. There are two: a five day residential one after Course 3, and a four day commercial one after Course 4.

Each finishes with its own three hour exam.

Attendance is mandatory, and sessions run both in person and virtually depending on what is scheduled. Either way you have to be there for the whole thing.

Because they run over consecutive days, they need planning around work far earlier than most students expect.

Know the paperwork before you arrive. Students who struggle are usually the ones meeting the forms for the first time in the room, which turns a coaching session into a scramble.

We rehearse the tasks and the documents beforehand so the days themselves are about practising judgement rather than catching up.

No, and we will say so if that is the honest answer for you. People pass on their own every year.

Tutoring earns its place when one of these is true:

Sessions run ninety minutes, one on one or in a small group. You get condensed notes before each one and practice questions after it, marked and explained.

A session opens with the questions you got wrong last time rather than a lecture, because that is where your marks are sitting.

Yes. Sessions run online for students anywhere in Ontario and a good number of our students never visit the office at all. The material and the teaching are identical either way.

In person sessions run from our office on Don Mills Road in Toronto for anyone who prefers a room and a whiteboard.

It depends on how much help you actually need, which is why we quote rather than publish a package. You pay for the sessions you book, there is no contract, and nothing renews automatically.

Course and exam fees are separate and are paid directly to the official education provider, never to us.
